Guedel Lineage

 

How do we get from Eugene Roberts to a Guedel Lineage? Eugene Roberts biological parents are Arthur Guedel and Mary Hoffmeyer.  Mary had two children with Arthur, Gladys and Eugene, before she divorced him when Eugene was around 3 or 4 years old. Mary then married Joseph Roberts who eventually adopted both Gladys and Eugene. Although Eugene grew up as a Roberts this site is about tracing our genealogy that means tracing the Guedel lineage.

 

My family new very little of Arthur Guedel and as of yet I have been able to find out almost nothing of him. What I do know about is that he was born on 22 Aug 1892, probably in West Virginia. He died on 20 Jul 1979 in Dover, Ohio. Some census records seem to indicate that he remarried an Edna Maurer (or possibly Mary Edna Maurer). I think that Edna Maurer was born in 23 Nov 1902 and she was the daughter of William Maurer and Catarina Knecht. I also think that Arthur and Edna had three children, Homer, Oliver and Alvin. The census also lists a Nicholas Krieg living with them who was born in Switzerland.

 

That is all I know of the Guedels at this time. I will continue to research this side of the family and update this page as soon as I learn anything about them.
